Support

AYEA is known for running high-impact, innovative, life- changing training events for young Alaskans that build local leaders and translate into powerful, movement building campaigns and projects.

These events would not be possible without the support of community members, business partners, and foundations.

Get involved! A youth-adult volunteer fund raising committee meets each January-June to plan and host our grassroots Summer Fund Raiser. If you are interested, contact AYEA Program Manager Megan McBride (907) 339-3907 or mcbridem(at)ayea.org

AYEA Training Principles

AYEA has developed a core set of training events over the past ten years. While each training differs in approach and focus, all trainings share common threads:

  • Capacity Building: For each training, 50% of participants must come from existing AYEA chapter communities and 50% must be from newly engaged communities. Trainings build leaders and inspire action so they are great for youth from existing chapters to attend. Likewise, trainings provide intense bonding and social context for youth, making them ideal bridge builders with new communities.
  • Diversity: All trainings strive to meet AYEA’s value of diversity by balancing genders, communities, cultures/ethnicities, urban/rural perspectives, and AYEA experience.
  • Inclusiveness & Environmental Justice: All AYEA trainings incorporate community building, inclusiveness measures, and environmental justice workshops/sessions to build unity and understanding among diverse youth.
  • Youth-Adult Collaboration: AYEA youth leaders and adult mentors partner to facilitate workshops, lead groups, and otherwise learn together and from one another.
